The best hour in the valley is the one most people sleep through. Between six and seven the light comes down the west ridge, touches the river, and sets the meadow alight — and you can watch the whole thing from the terrace, or better, from inside it.
The loop we recommend
Out the door, left at the woodshed, and down to the river path. Follow the water upstream for forty minutes — past the wildflower meadow, through a stand of old larches — then cross at the wooden bridge and come back along the south bank.
Two hours, no cars, one climb worth the name. In June you will share the trail with deer more often than with people.
Bring nothing
That is the real advice. No headphones, no pole, no plan. The trail decides the pace, and the river does the talking.
Coffee is waiting when you get back. We make it strong on purpose.
